In a significant boost to cultural preservation and industrial progress, the Odisha Cabinet approved various proposals on Saturday aimed at bolstering Odia heritage while positioning the state as a hub for innovative manufacturing. The Water Resources Department has been allocated Rs 362 crore to create a diversion system aimed at boosting water management and irrigation infrastructure.

International Flights to Continue Till March

Flights from Odisha to Singapore and Dubai will continue through March. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will decide whether or not to extend these overseas services beyond that time frame. The first suggestion addressed the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department. During an earlier Cabinet meeting, a new cadre called the Odisha Cultural Development Service was established, and approval was sought for its implementation, which was granted today. Under this service, 33 out of 66 positions have already been filled, promotion opportunities have been formalized, and specific responsibilities have been defined to promote and enhance Odia language, literature, and culture,” stated Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg. “The second request came from the Industries Department, which approved the building of Kalyani Group’s integrated new-age manufacturing complex at Gajamara, Dhenkanal district. The project will start with a specialized steel plant and eventually extend to a super alloy facility. The emphasis is on value-added manufacturing in the state. The integrated automotive, aerospace, and defense equipment manufacturing complex will manufacture components locally, highlighting Odisha’s aim for high-value manufacturing. “The project is expected to create more than 12,000 high-value jobs,” she said.
